From Nicola Peltz to Irina Shayk, Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner, here’s who’s wearing Balenciaga’s cult wraparound sunglasses and where to buy them – shop now
Nicholas Peltz surprised her fans on Instagram with her new, dare we call it a fashion-forward aesthetic, but aside from the freshly darkened brown hair there is one accessory she sported that firmly caught our attention. To know Balenciagathe cult film of Sun glasses.
The sunglasses were spotted at Balenciaga fall/winter 2022 show, and have been growing in popularity ever since. Nicola Peltz debuted them on her Instagram, and Irina Sheikh wore similar shield mounts while vacationing in Ibiza with Riccardo Tisci and fellow super Stella Maxwell. Kim Kardashian blazed the trail for the trend, in March she wore similar Balenciaga frames to the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party, posing for photos in an aqua blue dress. Her younger sister Kendall Jenner also had Balenciaga sunglasses work for the red carpet at the same event.

Sporty face-framing wraps are another trend borrowed from the early 2000s. Early 2000s sunglasses are just the latest Y2K aesthetic embraced and adored by Gen Z. I can’t help but think of Kate Moss iconic Dior sunglasses ads, starting in the fall of 2006, when the model sported a pair of oversized sunglasses. The style gaining traction on the fashion radar proves that the wraparound shield frames we loved at first are now the go-to aesthetic for crazy insta gaming.
