The real reason they wear sunglasses

The matrix, written and directed by the Wachowski sisters, enjoys excellent aesthetics. More than two decades later, the Sci-Fi franchise continues to attract plots. The latter is likely due to the complex ideas presented in the film and the futuristic shoot that was unknown at the time of its release. One aspect of the film that has been much debated is why the actors wear sunglasses throughout the film.

The classic that is ‘The Matrix’

When it was released in 1999, audiences were immediately captivated by the classic The Matrix. The film had some form of cross-appeal as the filming took a visionary approach. In addition, it presents some of the deepest questions humanity has had. It tackles intimacy, love and relationships and offers them in a setting that allows the audience to detach themselves and truly reflect on these subjects.

The matrix continues to be an international sensation. It wouldn’t be completely outrageous to go all out and claim that the film is the greatest sci-fi movie ever made. The unsuspecting public is embarked on a journey that leaves everyone wondering if the world we live in is a real complex simulation.

The effect they wanted to create by having the characters wear glasses

It would be unwise to think that part of The matrix was unplanned or unintentional. This is true for the setting, the story and the characters. The public immediately notices that the renegades and the agents are dressed in futuristic leather outfits and wear badass sunglasses. These sunglasses hide sunken eyes while reflecting those being looked at.

According to Looper, the sunglasses are meant to sell the idea that the cast sees filtered reality. The audience will notice that there are scenes in which the actors wear the glasses, and some take them off. One popular interpretation is that by doing this, the audience can recognize when the futuristic cast comes in and out of The Matrix.

Another interpretation is that the directors used the sunglasses to represent a form of rebellion. You will notice that throughout the film, the agents appear to be wearing sunglasses for the most part. As humans become aware of what the Matrix is, some are starting to wear these sunglasses. This can be seen as a sign of rebellion against the agents seen as the oppressors throughout the film.

Continuation to come

Initially, Warner Bros. announced that The matrix 4 would be released earlier this year at the end of May. Unfortunately, the pandemic necessitated the change of release dates to April 1, 2022. Fans were delighted when that date was brought forward to December of this year. Like the other installations of the franchise, the sequel is expected to be available to stream for a full month from its release.

As expected, the fan base has been riddled with plots for what the sequel will look like. From the trailer, it’s obvious that Neo and Trinity are resurrected. What’s more, Morpheus, the Zion operator who serves with the city’s defense forces, is making a comeback.

This follows his dramatic murder by The Assassin as he sets the bomb code in Westview and the presentation of his body, which later erupts into flies at Sobra Shores Church. When it comes to the shooting style, audiences should expect a different style from the three previous films.

There have been rumors that the franchise is hiring new cast members. This follows the departure of Laurence Fishburne and Hugo Weaving, who played Morpheus and the antagonist, Agent Smith, respectively. This new cast should include Spirit hunter and Frozen star Jonathan Groff and Iron fist actor Jessica Henwick. In addition, Ellen Hollman, the main man of Spartacus, would have joined the cast.
